Boil Advisory 07-15-2019
BOIL WATER ADVISORY
We routinely monitor for the conditions in the drinking water distribution system on 07/15/2019 we experienced a drop in/loss of pressure due to equipment hitting a water service line and the isolation valve did not work to isolate the incident. A drop in water pressure is a signal of the existence of conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through backflow, by backpressure, or back-siphonage. As a result, there is an increased chance that the drinking water may contain disease-causing organisms.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
§ DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
§ Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.
§ The symptoms above are caused by many types of organisms. If you experience any of these symptoms and they persist, you may want to seek medical advice. People at increased risk should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.
WHAT IS BEING DONE?
We are replacing the water system. We are actively trying to locate lines in order to avoid any further interruptions to your service.
We will inform you when you no longer need to boil your water by placing signage on the City Hall (246 Main Street) doors, at the Hazelton Post Office, and on our website at www.cityofhazelton.com.
We anticipate resolving the problem within the next few days, but please be advised that this boil advisory could occur again and again until the water project is complete. We are hoping the water project will be complete sometime in November 2019.
PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR A WATER OUTAGE AT ANY TIME.

AVISO DE HERVIR LA AGUA
Realizamos un monitoreo rutinario de las condiciones en el sistema de distribución de agua potable. 15/07/2019 experimentamos una caída o pérdida de presión debido a que el maquinaria golpeó una línea de agua y la válvula de aislamiento no funcionó para aislar el incidente. Una caída de presión del agua es una señal de la existencia de condiciones que podrían permitir que la contaminación ingrese al sistema de distribución a través del contraflujo, por contrapresión o por sifonaje. Como resultado, existe una mayor probabilidad de que el agua potable contenga organismos causantes de enfermedades.
¿QUÉ TENGO QUE HACER?
• NO BEBA EL AGUA SIN HERVIR PRIMERO. Hierva toda el agua, hervir durante un (1) minuto y déjelar enfriar antes de usarla, o use agua embotellada. El agua hervida o embotellada debe ser para beber, hacer hielo, cepillarse los dientes, lavar los trastes y preparar la comida hasta nuevo aviso.
• El agua tratada inadecuadamente puede contener organismos que causan enfermedades. Estos organismos incluyen bacterias, virus y parásitos, que pueden causar náuseas, calambres, diarrea y dolores de cabeza.
• Los síntomas son causados por muchos tipos de organismos. Si experimenta algunos de estos síntomas y persisten, consulte a un médico. Las personas que corren mayor riesgo deben consultar sobre el agua potable con su médica.
¿LO QUE SE ESTÁ HACIENDO?
Estamos reemplazando el sistema de agua. Estamos intentando localizar las líneas para evitar más interrupciones en su servicio.
